Basically, you're looking for ranged shots at Str 6+ (preferably 8+) and AP 3 or less. This is the Dedicated Transport for their troops, a flyer that has some dakka and is affordable to boot. While Necrons benefit from an added Reanimation Protocols (RP) roll to bring back dead models (with the "Necron" characteristic), this is also their Achilles Heel. The Tau are pussies so I would guess the Necrons would wipe the floor with them easily.

It's been a while since I fought a Necron army, but taking it at a very high level - they favor (relatively) small numbers of Marine-equivalent or better units.
